In June of 1986, a Prince Edward Island highschool student wrote a
single sentence in his yearbook article: "I'm going to the Olympics". So
began the inspired journey of Dave MacEachern, 1998 Olympic Gold Medalist.
Dave MacEachern became the best bobsleigh brakeman in the world and
when teamed with driver Pierre Leuders the two sped to gold medal victory
in the two man bobsleigh competition at the Winter Olympics in Nagano,
Japan. Leading up to the Olympic win was a career of 28 World Cup medals,
five World Cup titles and a world championship silver medal.
After nine years as a member of Canada's national team, Dave retired
from bobsleigh racing. Today, he works in several areas: training elite
athletes, helping government develop programs to encourage students to be
more active, bobsleigh anaylst for CBC-TV, he's also a frequent speaker
before corporate, sport and school audiences. Dave's presentation of
"Believe and Achieve: Journey to Olympic Gold" reveals his winning
approach to teamwork, overcoming obstacles and achieving life goals. It's
an exciting story about success in a dangerous sport, and it's told with
honesty and humour.
"Dave MacEachern is a unique and compelling motivational speaker with
an excellent way of connecting with people of all ages. His Olympic
experience, insight and advice can be applied to all walks of life."
